NOCZ

The music of the Norwegian/Czech free jazz formation NOCZ has a unique flavor all of its own. The foundation of this flavor lies in the work of trumpetist Didrik Ingvaldsen, who combines modern trends in experimental jazz with classic free jazz approaches and a traditional lineup: trumpet, saxophone, double bass, and drums. Expect to hear energetic musicianship with distinctive dynamic breaks, a mix of heavily orchestrated passages with freer ones, expressive melodies, an emphasis on rhythm in the compositions, and collective improvisation. NOCZ has performed at prestigious festivals such as Mai Jazz Stavanger, the Trutnov Jazzinec, United Islands of Prague, and Are You Free in Dunajská Streda, and has recorded for Czech Radio. Now runs a tour in Europe (France, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia).
