Jazzfruit / Mladí ladí jazz 2024

Wednesday 25/09/2024 from 19:00

The final of the 15th edition of the "Jazzfruit" young jazz bands competition returns to the Jazz Dock club in Prague. Visitors can come to support the bands, decide which band should be the winner and enjoy an evening full of all kinds of jazz.

Sedno

The Sedno band is characterized by electronic sounds combined with live instruments, unique energy built through trance repetitions, metric loops, bold combinations of various styles and materials - from jazz, through minimal techno to ethnic elements. Our team consists of professionals with degrees from music universities and extensive experience in almost every genre. They have collaborated with artists such as: Jojo Meyer and Nerve, GrubSon, Wojtek Pilichowski, Jarecki, Kamil Bednarek, Natalia Zachód, Katarzyna Groniec, Leszek Możdżer, L.U.C., Grzech Piotrowski, Ewa Bem, Krystyna Prońko, K.A.S.T.A.

Renegatz

We are Renegatz, a band of four young musicians from Brno. Our work combines influences of modern and traditional jazz, funk, folk tradition and blues. The first stimuli for our formation date back to the beginning of 2020. The Renegatz project itself was founded in the autumn of 2021, when the three founding members Andrej Hrubč (keyboards), Andrej Hudec (bass guitar) and David Kašuba (drums) split from another local band and started to create their own compositions. (This separation, among other things, is behind our name.) Our modern history dates back to the summer of 2023, when Michal Ondrička joined us on saxophone, bringing with him the coveted musical chemistry. The primary idea of the band is to create original music that naturally reflects everyone's musical personalities. Live communication, often in real time and in concert, is the most essential component of Renegatz's identity. The band is currently focusing mainly on gaining its own space of activity on the local music scene, and we plan to expand our perimeter mainly towards West Bohemia and Slovakia. In parallel with playing gigs, we are also preparing to record our first EP, which we plan to release in the first half of 2025.

Kota No Uta

Kota No Uta is a Berlin-based artist, producer, and singer-songwriter. Her experimental sound blends neo-psychedelic soul, creating a unique musical experience. As a multicultural storyteller, Kota draws inspiration from metaphor and mythology, often reflecting on daily observations of her surroundings in her lyrics. Together with Aktino Troubounis on double bass, Adam Gintowt on percussion, Tim Granbacka on keys, and Tom Varral on guitar, they create a truly immersive experience for their audience, evoking the feeling of being lost in the woods and sharing beautiful moments together.

In 2023, Kota was honored with the Female* Producer Prize by Sony Music Entertainment Germany and Music Woman. Since then, her music has been featured on prominent platforms such as BBC2, Jazz FM UK, Soho Radio, Balamii Radio, P8 Jazz Radio, and J-Wave Radio's Morning Voyage show in Tokyo. At the beginning of this year, Kota and her band had a fantastic opportunity to present themselves at the XJAZZ and Fusion festivals. Another exciting turning point this year is that Kota received a scholarship from Musicboard Berlin to release her debut album.
