David Dorůžka - Jazz Workshop

David Doruzka will talk about different approaches to performing solo pieces, applicable on any instrument. The emphasis will be on expressing harmony, rhythm, form and pulse within a purely melodic content. Different pieces and approaches will be addressed, dealing with both closed and open form and exploring improvisation in traditional harmonic settings as well as free improvisation, both in the context of written music and as an end to itself. David will perform his own and other composers' pieces. Performance of the students is welcome and encouraged.
