Mahuki
Mahuki is an Edinburgh-based jazz fusion project led by Czech guitar virtuoso Honza Kouřimský, combining nu-jazz, progressive funk and grooves with Eastern European folk melodies. Kouřimský's performance skills and distinctive compositional talent are the foundation of this ensemble's energetic music. On their second album, Gratitude, Mahuki combines different musical styles and interesting compositions with expressive improvisation. Mahuki is touring the album, and their dynamic music will appear on stages in Scotland, England and the Czech Republic. Honza Kouřimský has been active on the Edinburgh scene for over 10 years, and his band also includes some of the most promising talent on the Scottish jazz scene. Of note are their appearances at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, Jazz FM, BBC Radio Scotland and The New Morning in Paris.
