UNITED ISLANDS OF PRAGUE - KLUBOVÁ NOC

Thursday 23/06/2016 from 19:00

Jazz Dock will be traditionally part of summer festival UNITED ISLANDS OF PRAGUE.

7 pm - Bára Zemková

Both the audience and the jury at the first year of the search contest 1MAN2PLAY were bewitched by this fragile pianist and her talent and determination. It resulted in her masterful victory, a performance on the Colours of Ostrava festival and also an intimate debut named Ještě kousek released under the auspices of the monthly magazine Full Moon three years ago and with the guest Lenka Dusilová. Songs bobbing on the waves of poetry, jazz, chanson and classical music are despite their intimate tone intense and varied given to the vocal positions and lyrical ideas of the young composer.

8:10 pm - Jay Delver Band

A comfortable connection between pop melodic lines and a proper dose of funk-jazz groove - it is a not long operating band of five from Brno, which debuted in the summer of 2015 with their three-song EP. They say that each of them likes to listen to something else - for example, the drummer likes to listen to metal - but you would not guess when listening to their lightweight mix of pop and jazz with a distinctive piano. "We try to compose songs which have depth and certain points, yet maintain their composure and are enjoyable for the audience. At the same time, however, we do not strive for simplicity at the expense of quality," say the band members.

9:20 pm - The Odd Gifts

The singer and versatile musician Ondřej Galuška is known primarily from the parent band Eggnoise. The Odd Gifts is his solo project, which occasionally has a form of regular band, having trips from pop to funk, folk and rock. At the Club night, he will perform mainly songs from the new album, which was recorded throughout the first half of this year, and which is musically noted by the guests, such as Marek Doubrava, Justin Lavash or James Harries. Clever melodies and thoughtful lyrics, a masterful phrasing and a musical as well as composer´s playfulness in a pretty package.

10:30 pm - Pale & Coy

By the name, someone would probably guess a duo, but it is not what it is. The name stays for the electro producer Eliška Míkovcová, a former member of the band Dogsbodies. She shares her accompanying band with a fellow project blacksheepboy and as a split; they released a debut spring album entitled These Days Spring / Urban Foxes together. Stories about urban foxes, uneasiness, insomnia and nighttime walks are accompanied by fragile and introverted pop tunes, yet supported by strong melodies and dense bass.

11:45 pm - Disconnexion

The name of this dancing retro formation from Třebíč originated as a typical pun combining the words "disco" and "connection". They move in funk and pop like a fish in water, but as their name suggests, they do not avoid traditional disco either. A smoothly running rhythm, a confident singer and a pair of vocalists promise dance and energetic show, which draws mainly from the influence of funk bands of the 70s, such as Kool & the Gang and Earth Wind & Fire. Besides their original production, they decorate their shows with covers of their favorite songs.

Free entry for entire evening.
